Liberty Promenade
The client's brief was to add 25 000m² to the existing Liberty Promenade centre, with the aim of making it the largest shopping centre in a previously disadvantaged area in the country, at over
75 000m².
A contemporary design aesthetic has been used, and special attention has been paid to key areas such as entrances and internal nodes, while external canopy structures have been added above public walkways.
The extension to the centre allowed for additional line shops to be added to the lead-in malls and provided the opportunity to re-image the mall entrances. Extensive natural lighting is introduced via centrally-positioned skylights that culminate in a large central skylight at over 14 meters in height.
