Willowbridge Lifestyle Centre

Willowbridge has a gross building area of approximately 55 000m², with a retail component of 22 000m² and an additional 4000m² of first floor offices.

The building structure consists of a naturally ventilated parking basement, a naturally ventilated lower ground floor which is used primarily for parking but also houses elements of retail, a ground floor which has the bulk of the retail component, and a first floor level over parts of the building.

The plan layout of the centre is based on a “high street” model, while the aesthetic influences came by the need for the architecture to have a comfortable human scale to its proportion and the desire to respond in a contemporary manner to the traditional Cape vernacular of the area.
